An increasing number of companies regard diversity and inclusion (D&I) as a source of competitive advantage in a globalized economy. Some have even recognized an opportunity to go further: D&I as a key enabler for growth and value creation. Yet progress on initiatives has been slow.

There are organizations, that have been running D&I programs for years on a global and local level. But particularly in large companies where this occurs, it can be challenging to step back and assess what the overall impact has been and how to design meaningful next steps. Other companies are gaining momentum by running some D&I initiatives. But without having a clear and long term D&I strategy in place, uncertainty remains on how to use it most effectively within the organization. And then, there are still companies, where D&I initiatives have not yet gained internal traction, despite the support of the top management.

Crafting meaningful steps forward requires a better understanding of the benefits of a D&I strategy and knowledge of best practices. This roundtable aims to bring together executives from various fields to share experiences on their D&I journey, put challenges on the table and receive fresh ideas. The event will be moderated by Em Roblin, the co-founder of Inner Circles and Jana Kumpf, Executive Chamber Manager at the German Chamber of Commerce North China.

Executives, who like to participate, should meet at least two of the following criteria:

  • At the global level: the organization I work with has a D&I strategy that is supported by top global leadership.
  • At the regional/local level: I am in a position to drive the strategy forward and localize it appropriately.
  • I have participated in some kind of D&I activity before and/or been engaged in discussion with different stakeholders on that topic.

This event is part of the Women in Business series, that has been introduced by the German Chamber of Commerce North China and the Wirtschaftsjunioren / Young Business Leaders Beijing in March 2019.
