"Employee wellness" is one of the latest trends for many companies and most multinationals have global initiatives to include wellness as a theme internally. Although the majority of these programs focus on physical wellness, the topic of mental wellness is gaining importance. In some countries like Australia and the UK, mental health awareness, treatment and prevention are well developed practices. In Asia, less so due to cultural and societal stigmas.
So within the realm of personnel/employee wellness, why is mental wellness important and why is it necessary to talk about it (especially seeing it can be quite uncomfortable)? And how can companies think about mental wellness as more than just a "diversity & inclusion" or "lunch & learn" topic to promote an engaged employee population?
